Planning for the book cover project

Updated: Oct 16, 2020

As we were told in class, our final preliminary work should be some type of cover - that could be either a book cover, CD cover, magazine cover etc. After thorough thinking I finally found a cover which inspired me and also reflected my hobbies and interests:

The life this cover gives off really represents what I am trying to achieve. A handbook is exactly what one needs for inspiration and connection with a respective topic, and so therefore that is what I want to do.

The surrounding photographs reflect an insight into what the book has to offer. Expression, pose, colour and lightning are all aspects the book most likely describes as well as how to play with editing such as photoshop and fashion/organisational tips.

It is important to really digest its hidden meanings in order to manage building my cover in a manner which will lead my viewer into understanding what the book is about and understanding its content by just glancing at it.

Moreover, the bright colours used - especially the red - suggests a more modern look, whereas I - having done a vintage photoshoot and moving towards that vibe - will most likely use a more relaxing and calming colour which should enhance the vintage. The big writing suggests that being a book from vogue means that it is really important and instructive as well as for the reader to understand that by reading it they'll only be looking at high-quality information and tips.
