Question 4: Integration of technology

For the last question of the Creative Critical Reflection Process: 'How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?', I decided to do something more special. Although I already did a voiceover video for Q2, I wanted this one to be animated and more interactive. Therefore, using the site Powtoon, I answered the question in a short video.

*Note - unfortunately, I couldn't save the video as it was because of the amount of money which had to be paid for the subscription. Therefore, I found another way to present it (which is the same) (through Imovie), but the audio unfortunately lacks the original quality. That is why besides the bad quality video I will also post an additional one filmed with my phone in which the audio is better but the image quality is not.

As before, I will first post the answer here as a final text draft, which will be then followed by the videos:

I believe that this project could have not been conducted without the proper use of technology overall. Although the final magazine is meant to theoretically be in print form, all the production process was ultimately made digitally besides the flat plans, especially since the site is also online and had me work on my laptop throughout the whole of the project. Therefore, I used softwares such as IOS, Chrome and Adobe in order to effectively upload my content and conduct the creative process while using hardware such as my laptop, camera, memory card and phone. All the uploading was done online, and the editing on photoshop. I believe that it is important once more to take into consideration the fact that in this case using technology in the process of creating a magazine is inevitable, as it is the only way in which the conventions and final number of issues can be done effectively.

Moreover, the final result could have not been done without a combination of all these factors. Sometimes I used all of them at once and could not operate on one without the other - such as using my laptop in order to use adobe or internet in order to write on my blog, using chrome to get online.

The cameras that I used, Nikon and Canon( were extremely useful, as without them the photos could not have been taken. They also helped me understand better how cameras work, angles are created and used, how to blur the background of an image and most importantly how to manage my time and camera memory well. It was a process which made me more disciplined and organized while also aware of the components of a photograph, details and what to include/exclude. I then used my laptop in order to upload the photos on it, while later using the Adobe tools in order to edit the product and ultimately upload it online, on my site.

I also took advantage of websites such as pinterest to gather inspiration for my photoshoots and overall style of the magazine, while using Instagram to keep up with trends and know what to/not to include in my issue. To get the fonts used in my magazine, I also used several sites which offered free fonts, such as Adobe Fonts and Google Fonts. Moreover, in order to get the rose doodle used in my double spread I used Google Images, as well as for the bar code on the Cover Page.
